Welcome to the MES Art website!

My name is Cynthia Robinson, and this is my third year teaching at MES.
I have been teaching art for over 20 years in many places from preschools, elementary schools, high school, after school programs, to nature centers, summer camps, teacher conferences, and artist conferences. I am also a working environmental artist. I have two grown children, one is on a Semester at Sea this year and the other is cooking in Colorado. I love spending time outside, reading books, making art, and walking my dog.
I believe that a good educational experience can build students' self esteem, instill the importance of community, and give them the tools they will need in order to thrive in their adult life.  I enjoy observing children as they approach, ingest, and apply new concepts. It is a magical process, filled with surprises, humor, anxiety, elation, and so much more. In making art, students can learn ways to express who they are, what they are thinking about, how they are feeling, and where they want to go. It's all about communication and community.

ABOUT the ART program at MES

Picture
We have an art curriculum designed for each grade at MES, and this plan aligns with NH State Curriculum Frameworks for the Arts.
Art projects are planned to enable every student to feel successful about their work, and the art room is set up to be a positive and inspiring (and sometimes messy!) environment.

Check out the Gallery page for recent artworks and links to Artsonia, where most student artworks will be posted throughout the year.
Thursdays and Fridays are ART days at MES.

2011-2012 School Theme:
Go Green!

Picture
This year, our "Go Green" theme will be a part of many projects. We'll be thinking about Madison as a place- celebrating its natural resources and working on ways that we can each hep to keep it a beautiful and healthy place to love.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink....
Watch for highlights from projects and themes explored throughout the school.
